Bride of the Month - February 2012: Kate Elizabeth Thorpe

After not knowing what sort of dress I wanted and trying on quite a few, I felt like I would never find a dress. However once trying on my BR gown everything else paled in to insignificance. All I could think about was dress 2058a.

I most definitely recommend Benjamin Roberts, the dress was so comfortable, and incorporating everything I was looking for, lots of lace, tulle yet still being quite traditional. The fit of the gown was so perfect it needed no adjustments and hugged my curves perfectly.

I knew this dress was the one for me after taking my oldest friend along with me and seeing her face (and the tears). Benjamin Roberts’ gowns are worth every penny; they exude elegance and make you feel a million dollars! After having two children and no longer the size I once was this dress enhanced every curve and I received compliments all day long. When the last guests left I still didn't want to take my dress off!

Our wedding was in Deia Mallorca Saturday 6th August and it was without a doubt the most amazing day of my life and I cannot begin to tell you how beautiful I felt in my dress. I wanted nothing like the Dorothea but completely fell in love with it & it was the perfect dress for the location.

As soon as I got engaged, I searched all the Bridal websites for my perfect dress and the only designer that I kept going back to was Benjamin Roberts, as they far outshone every other designer website. I knew from that moment that it had to be a Benjamin Roberts dress. I searched for my nearest stockist and found "Surrey Brides" in Weybridge, Surrey.

The dress I wore on my special day was the first Benjamin Roberts dress I tried on and I knew it was the one for me and knew my fiancée would love it. I felt like a princess from that moment wearing it and on our wedding day I have never felt so beautiful. I would recommend all Benjamin Roberts' dresses. All I have seen have been stunning and they always fit perfect on any body shape. They are also great value for money.

I was never sure what kind of dress I wanted but as soon as I put my dress on (number 2058a) I knew it was the one. I didn't even have to say anything to my bridesmaid or mum, they also knew. It fitted perfectly and the detailing on it was amazing. I felt comfortable in it all day and didn't want to take it off. All my guests including the men said how beautiful I looked in the dress which made me feel so special. I absolutely LOVED my dress and would recommend to anyone to look at Benjamin Roberts dresses first before looking anywhere else.

I always had a vision of what my dress would be like and when I saw Cheyenne I knew that it was the dress for me. The quality is outstanding and the work and detail is amazing. I recommend Benjamin Roberts dresses, they are absolutely beautiful. I actually purchased my dress 2 years before my big day. My gown was the first dress I tried on and although I tried on others it just could not be beaten. Everything about it was just perfect, the fabric was so soft and unusual and it had an incredible beaded detail on the front and back.

The corset of the dress hugged my body so wonderfully and the long train fell so beautifully it made me feel like a princess. I loved my dress so much I did not want to take it off. I could not have imagined my day without it and would do anything to be able to wear it again.

Everything about my dress has been out of this world. Every bride wants to feel amazing on her special day and I can honestly say that wearing my Benjamin Roberts dress did this. I tried not to have any images of my perfect wedding dress in my head before the wedding - I just wanted to try on a dress and just know this is the dress I've always dreamt about - this exactly what happened when I slipped on Benjamin Roberts 2258 wedding gown. It literally took my breath away - everything about it - the design, the cut, the beading was immaculate. It was the first and last dress I tried on - I didn't even need to look further. I saw design 2058A in a wedding magazine when we first got engaged and fell in love with it. I looked around for others but no other dress compared to "mine", I'd already made my mind up. Benjamin Roberts' dresses are beautifully made and the detail on them is amazing. The dress was beautiful and I felt like a princess all day. Everyone commented on it and said it was stunning. I wore it with a bolero and waist length veil with crystals to complete the princess look. It was flattering and comfortable and more importantly, my husband loved it! Gorgeous dress by an amazing designer!

You only get one chance at picking the perfect dress and if you want to feel like a princess on your day, a Benjamin Roberts dress is the only option. I have never felt so special in my life and cannot count the number of times people (including males!!) said that they had never seen such a beautiful dress before - even the lady in the alterations shop which was not connected to the bridal shop I bought it from! I really felt that my dress made the most out of my figure, felt nice against my skin and just looked stunning! So much detail and time taken to make such a dress!!!

I think the dresses in the BR collection all look elegant, beautifully made and they stand out from the rest. There is something unique about each and every one of them.

I always knew I wanted a lace wedding dress and as soon as I tried on Diana by Enzoani, I knew I could stop searching. It was perfect, classic and contemporary with a fashion feel too, I loved the corsage around the waist, the fine straps and of course the dramatic train. The quality of the lace was amazing and it felt comfortable all day. I would love to wear it a thousand times more! I recommend Enzoani for a dress you will never forget.

I would recommend Benjamin Roberts because having looked at lots of dresses, as soon as I saw the 1051, my decision was made. The dresses have a unique look and they are simply beautiful. Nothing else came close to the one I chose.

A beautiful dress, beautifully made and I felt so lovely in it. To see the 1051 on the website was a 'wow!' feeling but to see it in the bridal shop was something else! An absolutely gorgeous dress and it felt wonderful to wear, words cannot totally express how it felt. The comments on the day were amazing and so many guests said how gorgeous the dress and detailing was. Thank you to Benjamin Roberts for making my day so memorable in a gown that I simply loved. When our day was over I had to leave the dress hanging up for a month, so I could simply look at it because one day to wear it just wasn't long enough. Needless to say the dress may now be stored away but our wedding photos will be an eternal memory of not only how special our day was but also how it felt to wear that dress!

My Benjamin Robert story begins in 2007 when I worked at a bridal shop far up north in Norway. The funny thing is I never was the girl who dreamt of a fairytale wedding when I was young. But I did make a promise to myself that no matter what - i would never try on a wedding dress until the day I was to get married - if the day was to come.

"Unfortunately" one day we received a delivery from Benjamin Robert's and I was packing up dresses, preparing them for display in the store. Amongst them, wrapped in plastic, was a magic dress with the number 955.

I fell in love with this dress at first sight! I had seen a lot of nice dresses in my work, but not one that made my eyes sparkle like diamonds. Wedding plans popped up in my head and I could see flowers, cakes and could hear wedding bells - the problem was I was no where near a wedding, I was single. What was happening to me?

I managed to stay a whole week before I broke the promise I made to myself - I tried it on, secretly after I closed up the store. I was sold! I didn't want to take it off! I wanted it so badly I planned how to get the money to buy it. But I came to my senses eventually and comforted myself that it would just bring me bad luck. A new promise came to life that evening, if I ever was to get married - it had to be this dress!

The years went by, no wedding in sight, and the dress was eventually discontinued. The dress was still in the back of my mind, and I always kept an eye open - just in case I should find it somewhere. No luck though...

On 19th February 2010 fate brought me and my dear husband together and we very soon started joking about marriage, but our joke got more and more serious. It just felt so right - everything! All the pieces of the great puzzle of love was in place. In October he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him - I said yes!

I was a bit sad, since I knew I most certainly would not get married in the dress of my dreams, but I still made a search on the internet. Guess what? I got one result, my dream wedding dress, in my size, unaltered, perfect, although used once before me. I could not care less that someone had gotten married in it once before - as long as it could be mine.

The 18th of June 2011 I got my dream husband, dream wedding while wearing my dream wedding dress - everything as perfect as I ever could have dreamt of. I am forever grateful to Benjamin Robert's for lighting that wedding-dream-sparkle in me, many years ago. Thank you for that! I absolutely recommend a Benjamin Roberts wedding dress for its craftsmanship and great design!!

Every dress I was drawn to in bridal magazines turned out to be a Benjamin Roberts dress, so I knew I needed a Benjamin Roberts stockist. I find the dresses exquisite, ornate and the detail is the key - I love the detail! I'm really pleased that I ended up with the designer that I had loved in the magazines.

My Benjamin Roberts dress was stunning. The bridal boutique knew that it would flatter my figure and I felt like a goddess whilst wearing it! The combination of the mermaid style and the shape of the bust, gave a great sexy womanly shape, but then the beautiful train added tradition. The train was my favourite part - the detail was gorgeous and the organza overlay made my dress unique. Every dress I liked was a Benjamin Roberts dress, but this dress topped them all easily. I never imagined I'd find a dress that would suit me this well and make me feel so confident and beautiful!

I found the dress within the first day of looking and I'm really thankful to the lady who handed it to me. My mum and I knew the search was over. We got married in the Manor House at Puckrup Hall, Hilton, Tewkesbury. The vintage style dress suited this venue very well and I did feel like Lady of the Manor! Best day of my life and best dress in my life. Thank you Benjamin Roberts!!

 

I would definitely recommend Benjamin Roberts. The dresses are very flattering and I think they are quite unique from other designers.

 

I visited several shops in Plymouth looking for dresses and none of them stocked the range and quality of dresses that Aphrodite did. Also the staff were by a long way the most helpful. My wedding was approximately 6 months away and the other shops didn't seem interested. The Benjamin Roberts dresses were beautiful and also offered great value for money compared to other dresses. The dress also arrived earlier than expected which was very reassuring. The dress itself (2058) was absolutely stunning and everyone commented how beautiful it was, I can't recall seeing another wedding dress this lovely - it looked far more expensive than it actually was and looked amazing in all of the photos too. I would certainly recommend this brand to other people for great value and stunning dresses.

The dress was beautiful! I always said I wanted it to be a plain dress with no bling. But as soon as I put this dress on I fell in love with it. I fell in love with the Benjamin Roberts style and knew that I had to have one to make me feel like a princess on my special day, and that is exactly what my 2077 did. I'd recommend Benjamin Roberts - the way my dress made me feel was amazing. All of the dresses are beautifully styled and of amazing quality!

From the first moment I set my eyes on the 2077, I knew that I had to have it. I tried on a LOT of other dresses and none of them even vaguely matched up to this one. After trying on lots of dresses at the NEC National Wedding show, it was the only one that made me feel like the princess I wanted to be on my wedding day. Not only that, but the fit and design was so sexy that I just knew my hubby to be would not be disappointed!

Every bride wants her day to be perfect and in my head, my day had been planned to perfection down to the last table crystal! However no one can control Mother nature and on the day, the heavens opened and the weather turned out to be cold, windy, wet and generally awful!! As soon as I saw the picture of your dress no. 908 on your website - I felt at once that this was the dress for me! I had a budget to which I was trying dresses that fell into it. That was until my daughter and my mother, who had come to the shop with me, asked if I could try on one of the dresses in the window - 2058. The lady pointed out it wasn't in my budget but I tried it on to humour my mum and please my daughter, and I never looked back! I got that silly grin on your face and did the swishy thing you do when you know you have found THE dress. I knew this was the dress I had to marry my now husband in but once again I humoured my mum and trailed around several more shops trying numerous dresses. Absolutely nothing came close to 2058. The dress was purchased and every time I went for a fitting I silly grinned and swooshy shwooshied. I even offered to be a live mannequin in the dress but the lovely ladies at Wedding Belles declined. I felt like a superstar on our wedding day and it was 2058 that transformed me into one! I chose this dress because as soon as I put it on I felt transformed, it was perfect in every way; an exquisite, beautiful dress that fit every inch of me.

Our civil marriage took place at the Grand Hotel "Giessbach" with its beautiful celebrities- the seven waterfalls above the deep-blue lake of Brienz-Switzerland. I felt the mystic of this place, heard the rush of the falls and plunged into a dream, but emerged from it perceiving admiring glances at my wonderful wedding dress designed by Benjamin Roberts.

I would highly recommend Benjamin Roberts to all brides who want their day to be perfect. The dress fitted like a glove, is made of the most precious materials and makes you feel comfortable and at ease. The styles of the dresses are incomparable to those of other designers. We were all in high spirits and we shall never forget That Day.

I think what made me fall in love with Benjamin Roberts 2161 is the fabrics you guys work with. The fabrics are just to die for, whether its lace or silk; just top quality. I just fell in love with my dress as there was so many beautiful things about it! The huge bow on my lower back, the heart neck line with white shell detailing and the flowers on my hip with pearls and white stones in them. Oh and also the way the dress finished on the floor.

My dress was truly fabulous - the final details were all finished to perfection, all the beading was perfect!! I also ordered some of my dress fabric from you guys to make some amazing sashes for my bridesmaid dresses so they could have the same big bow as me on their backs - it looked amazing, really finished off their dresses! Your service was just excellent.

I had become completely stuck looking for a dress, and decided to start from scratch. I went in and said I wanted to try straight line dresses, princess dresses, short dresses, the lot. Fi in Frilly Frocks said, "Well, can you please try this on? It's just come in and I have not seen any one in it!" - it was stunning. I stood there in the window with the train running into half the shop, it was massive. As soon as I'd seen the bow I loved it! I tried it on and it fitted like a glove, was the right length & my waist looked tiny. I just couldn't stop smiling when she was strapping me in and I squealed with excitement.

My bridesmaids loved it and said "That's the one, do not try any more!" I could not try anymore. I could not get this one out of my mind!! I thought it would be heavy but it was so light to wear, everything about it was perfect. I said all along I did not want loads of bling, so the white stones on the bodice were perfect.

We were getting married in a little bistro on Saunton Sands Beach and were going for the vintage country garden feel. Everything was just perfect and I felt like a million dollars! It went down a real treat everyone loved the dress. I said I would keep my dress forever, but I do not know now if I can keep it in a box forever and it not be worn again! I feel the dress should be out on show and being loved by as many people as possible as it really is an incredible dress! Thank you once again Benjamin Roberts and your team!

First of all, thank you so much for creating the perfect dress for my wedding, the most important moment of my life! The wedding was marvellous; my husband dropped a tear when he saw me...that meant a lot to me..I wanted everything to be perfect...and I had everything as I wished...again, thank you so much!

We got married on 5 March 2011 at Gaynes Park in Epping. I was looking for a mermaid shape elegant dress that would compliment our 'early spring' theme and country venue.

I saw the Benjamin Roberts collection in Chester Bridal Gallery, I loved the quality and the materials, I tried on quite a few, but I knew that dress 1071 was the one for me as soon as I put it on! It was stunning. I would recommend Benjamin Roberts, the dresses just look amazing.

I felt amazing in my Benjamin Roberts gown. So many people commented on the dress. It was a modern cut, however it still had a very classical look. I loved my Benjamin Roberts gown, and have never felt so special in a dress. I'd recommend Benjamin Roberts as there are dresses to fit all shapes, with an elegant style. I chose mine for the modern but classy look.

My beautiful Tia dress was the first wedding dress I'd ever put on, and ended up being the one I got married in. I loved it from the moment I saw it, it was a fairly big gown but the detailing was understated and sophisticated, completely beautiful. I thought I'd never be able to find a dress that would truly make me feel like a princess, but my dress definitely did. It was so beautifully made, the corseting was perfect and gave me the support I needed, the dress was totally comfortable to wear but looked so elegant and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I would definitely recommend Benjamin Roberts - my dress was perfect and so beautifully made, the detailing was exquisite and even though my dress had a relatively large skirt and quite a lot of netting underneath, I felt comfortable in it for the whole of my wedding day. I didn't want to take it off!!

I chose my gown after I saw it on the website; it was love at first sight, I had to have it! The gowns are of extreme high quality and the fit is just wonderful!

I was inspired by Benjamin Roberts after viewing the catwalk collection for Enzoani on the web.

I tried on many, many dresses, both in Australia and Northern Ireland and after trying on Carmen by Enzoani, nothing else compared to this dress and I just had to have it.

My Carmen couture dress was fabulously figure hugging, made with luxurious French taffeta and and finished with exquisite crystal and beading detail.

It was love at first sight. I had tried on over 25 dresses and the minute I put Annette on I knew it was the one. Two of my best friends were with me, one was in tears instantly and the other just said, "You having THE moment aren't you". I wanted my dress to be "different", and what made this dress stand out from all the others, was the shoulder strap on only one shoulder which I felt added a Grecian elegance to it, and made it strikingly different to many of the strapless dresses that are favoured today. I loved how the bodice of the dress was corseted and very fitted down to my hips, with a "rouged" material effect, before flaring out to the ground. This really highlighted the "hour-glass" effect in my waist which I was going for. What was also exquisitely unique was the way the material at the front of the dress was gathered up in a stunning tulle effect, which showed off various layers of netting, and most importantly allowed me to glimpse one of my beautiful silver, diamante shoes - with ever step I took!

I had been looking for the 'perfect' dress for several weeks. I'd go into various websites, both of stores and designers, and browse their lists. This dress was the first one I saw and feel completely in love with, and the one that both my mother and my then future husband loved. So I went to the shop with a list of dressed I wanted to try on, this one being at the top of the list. I tried about thirteen dresses on (I had an hour, and it was fun!), but none of the rest could compare. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.. I saw one of the Benjamin Roberts dresses advertised on www.confetti.co.uk and really liked the cut. After seeing the style of the dress that I liked I went to the Ben Roberts website. It was on this site that I saw "the one". Fate had a major role in buying this dress; I come from a very small town called Kettering but currently live in Johannesburg, but on a trip home to visit my parents I saw the shop in my home town, and low and behold my dress was literally being delivered as I walked through the shop door. It was meant to be, I actually hugged the delivery man!

The whole experience was amazing plus i've tried many and many amazing dresses I chose this dress because my dress was very mediterranean and i'm Italian. It was love at first sight!

My wedding was the best day ever, we got married at a Scottish castle lit with candles and then a country house afterwards for dinner and dancing. I loved the dress the first time I saw it, I went home and couldn't stop thinking about it. When I got to my appointment I tried a few other dresses on first but as soon as I put number 958 on I knew it was the perfect dress for the biggest day of my life!!

I would recommend Benjamin Roberts; the dresses are so well made. The corsets inside helped keep my dress in place and made it comfortable to wear all day. The designs are classic but with stunning individual details.

I knew that this dress was the one as soon as I tried it on. I did try others on afterwards but I always came back to this one. My dress made me feel amazing. Steven and I met in March 2009. Steven proposed on the 16th November 2009 in The London Eye when it had reached the very top. We set the date and got married on the 7th August 2010. During the time between getting engaged the hunt for the special dress began. At my first appointment at a bridal shop, we’d decided to have 9 bridesmaids so knew it was going to be a task to dress them all, I contacted the shop to make sure it was ok to bring along the bridesmaids to get an idea of what kinds of dresses and colours there were to choose from and was told “The more the merrier” on arrival I was told that the wedding party was too big and that she could not possibly have this many people in the shop. I left the shop feeling very sad that the first wedding appointment was a disaster. Luckily I had a second appointment booked with Brides By Losners. After scanning the websites I came across Benjamin Roberts and instantly knew that 2058A was the very next dress I had to try on. I was really excited on the morning of the appointment and arrived there extra early! The dress was hung up ready and waiting for me. The assistant helped me into it and instantly I knew this was THE DRESS for me. I felt like a princess, great design, lots of layers very intricate and delicate embroidery I love it! When I first started to look at wedding dresses for my wedding I had an idea of what I wanted it took look like!! And when tried on the Benjamin Roberts dress 958 that was it! I wasn’t interested in trying anything else on it was amazing I loved it and it was better than I could have ever imagined!

All the detail on it was just beautiful and the fit was perfect!! I had so many comments on how beautiful I looked in the dress and I felt it. I had such an amazing wedding day with an amazing dress to match!! Couldn’t have wished for anything better, I didn’t want to take my dress off! I was looking for a vintage looking dress, my dress Dakota was the first dress I tried on, and after trying it on nothing compared to it – it was beautiful and different.

Like most girls, my dream dress search started long before I was even engaged. I always knew I wanted something soft but with a traditional bride feel. I'm a curvy size 14 and I really felt the Benjamin Roberts dresses fitted perfectly, the quality was excellent, and really flattered my figure. My dress was very comfortable and the corset would make any shape look good! At first the dress didn’t stand out from the others I had tried on, but when I looked at the photos after the fitting, it looked fantastic from every angle!

I found my dress in the first shop I went to, and, as they say, you know when it’s the one! Surprised all my friends (and husband!) who were convinced my dress would be straight and strapless! My dress was beautifully made, just gorgeous! I loved wearing my dress and had the most perfect day.

We got married at the Curradine Barns and I wanted a very earthy feel to our wedding with a little 1950's glamour and sparkle. I brought my dress from Gatehouse Brides in Worcester, the last shop I visited and the last dress I tried on. The moment I saw this dress I knew it was the one I was going to buy. It is so beautiful and romantic, yet still classy. The fitting was amazing, and it hung beautifully... I couldn't stop looking at it in the shop. I chose the champagne colouring as it was so soft and was a great contrast against the opal pearls. I knew that I didn't want a white wedding dress, and this was just different enough for me. I didn't have any issues throughout the day, no pulling it up or dragging, it followed me! I danced away all night in it! Perfect! It felt so comfortable and I had a hard time taking it off at the end of the day, it was a sad moment!!

I bought my wonderful dress from a local shop, I tired lots of different dresses on but this one made me feel really special. I hunted everywhere to find THE dress – and finally found it! The Dorothea was exactly what I had been looking for and had almost given up finding!

Dorothea was my dream dress – I had a halter neck added to my dress and am having it altered into an evening dress so I will be able to wear my dream dress again!
